Responding to Locker Room Incidents
In the case of a peer-to-peer incident in the locker room, the inappropriate situation is reported, and all necessary members of the leadership team (i.e., Head Coach and/or Board President) are notified. The parents or guardians of the children involved will be notified of the situation. The leadership team meets with the targeted child(ren) and their parents/guardians to understand their wishes and explain the next steps. The leadership team will meet with the perpetrator as well, along with their parents/guardians, to discuss the situation.
SAC Gold’s procedure in the case of locker room incidents will be to report concerns to the appropriate jurisdictions, if warranted:
- Criminal – law enforcement
- Child abuse – Child Protective Services
- Sexual abuse or misconduct – U.S. Center for SafeSport & USA Swimming
- Other Code of Conduct and/or Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy concerns – USA Swimming
